In April 2020, the new Coronavirus pandemic affected ongoing processes in Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali Region. Due to the new Coronavirus spread threat, guests from Russia could not attend inauguration of the new „President“ of Abkhazia. Military exercises have not been suspended, however number of measures have been taken at the Russian military bases to fight the new Coronavirus. The article provides an overview of the major events that took place in April 2020 in connection with the Kremlin policy in Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali Region.
In April 2019, the Kremlin appointed new curator to Abkhazia and Tskhinvali Region. In April several important delegations visited Tskhinvali Region, including delegation chaired by Rashid Nurgaliyev, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. In Kremlin was also decided the issue of Tskhinvali Region financing for 2020-2022.
