A meeting between the de facto Foreign Minister of Abkhazia, Daur Kove, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, was held in Moscow.
Lavrov stressed that cooperation between the two “countries” continues and is expressed in successful trade, the fight against the pandemic and political dialogue. Kove thanked Russia for its support in the Geneva talks and for the assistance in the fight against the coronavirus.
Daur Kove later noted that the parties also discussed the supply of the Sputnik V vaccine to Abkhazia, and although the dates are unknown, “negotiations are at the final stage.”
According to Kove, the parties noted with satisfaction that the trade turnover totaled RUB 20 billion in 2020, which is RUB 1.5 billion more than last year.
A consultation plan for 2021-2022 was signed during the meeting. The plan would facilitate “systematic, rational and effective interaction” between Sokhumi and Moscow, said Lavrov.
