The 222nd Anniversary of the Birth of Alexander Pushkin was Celebrated in Tskhinvali

On June 4, Tskhinvali celebrated the International Day of the Russian Language and the 222nd anniversary of the birth of the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. The ceremony was held in Pushkin Square. It was attended by representatives of the de facto government and the Russian “embassy,” teachers, students, and schoolchildren. Among those present were Sergey Skvortsov, the Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo office in the Tskhinvali region, and Marat Kulakhmetov, Russia's Ambassador to the region.

Zalina Tedeeva, the President of the Association of Teachers of the Russian Language and Literature (ATRL) addressed the audience. “Pushkin's poems allow us to visit one of the best places in the world - the Russian world,” Tadeeva said, calling Pushkin  “Russia, expressed in words.”

Students of the N6 secondary school staged performances, read poems, and sang songs based on Pushkin's poems. At the end of the event, the audience decorated the Pushkin monument with flowers.
