The de facto Deputy Minister of Tourism of Abkhazia, Astamur Bartsits, said that tourist facilities are 100 percent occupied.

After the lifting of restrictions in Abkhazia, the summer tourist season is in full swing. Resorts of Abkhazia are among the favorite vacation destinations for Russian tourists.

According to Bartsits, the tourism indicator of 2021 is approaching the 2016 data when there was a peak load of tourists.

As of June 11, over 154,000 people visited the Ritsa National Relic Park, and over 103,000 people - the New Athos Cave. According to Bartsits, this is an “unprecedented indicator in the modern history of Abkhazia.”

Bartsits said that the de facto Ministry of Tourism is checking whether tourist reception facilities and travel companies comply with sanitary and epidemiological recommendations, while there is a positive trend in terms of wearing masks, protecting social distance and measuring temperatures in reception halls.

As Bartsits noted, most of tourists in Abkhazia arrive from the Krasnodar region, Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Bartsits assumes that the flight resumption between Russia and Turkey would not affect the tourist flow to Abkhazia since bookings were already placed.
