The “Minister of Tourism” of Abkhazia, Teimuraz Khishba, paid a working visit to Moscow on November 16. Mr. Khishba held numerous meetings with representatives of public and private structures.
On November 16, he met with the Head of the Russian Federal Tourism Agency (Rostourism), Zarina Doguzova. The parties signed a memorandum on cooperation in the field of tourism. In addition, Teimuraz Khishba and Zarina Doguzova exchanged views on creating favorable conditions for tourists, discussed the results of the summer holiday season and the issues of ensuring the safety of winter tourism.
On November 17, the Abkhaz “Minister” held a meeting with members of the Russian State Duma. The meeting was also attended by the Abkhaz “Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia,” Igor Akhba. The meeting discussed the possibilities of strengthening friendly ties between civil organizations, cooperation in the field of tourism and non-profit organizations, mutual organization of children's recreation. During the meeting, the “Minister of Tourism” of Abkhazia and the Chairman of the All-Russian Association of Tourism, Dmitry Davydenko, signed an agreement on the establishment of a bilateral association in the field of tourism industry. Later, the Deputy Secretary of the Public Chamber of Russia, Vladislav Grib, awarded Mr. Khishba and Mr. Akhba with a star of the Pride of the Nation order. The order was established by the of Russian Public Organizations Foundation and, as Grib noted, is a rare and elite award.
On November 19, Mr. Khishba attended a meeting of the Tourism Committee of the Russian State Duma. The sides discussed Abkhaz-Russian cooperation in the field of tourism and its further development. The need to resume the sea tourist route in the direction of Sokhumi, Sochi, Gelendzhik, Crimea was also mentioned at the meeting.
