As part of his visit to Moscow, the President of the de facto Republic of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, met with the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Alexander Novak. Novak supervises the direction of the occupied regions in the Russian government.

According to information disseminated by Bzhania's press service, the meeting discussed issues of socio-economic development, cooperation in the field of investment and energy supply of Abkhazia. Bzhania's press service usually publishes little information about de facto president’s visits to Moscow.

Novak congratulated Bzhania on the 16th anniversary of the recognition of independence of the de facto Republic of Abkhazia by Russia.
