On October 29, the de facto president of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, met in Moscow with Dmitry Kozak, the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia, overseeing the direction of the occupied regions of Georgia. Bzhania arrived in Moscow on October 26.
At the meeting with Kozak, the implementation of the 2020-2022 investment program promoting socio-economic development of Abkhazia was discussed. The Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Mikhail Babich and the Head of the Directorate for Cross Border Cooperation in the Presidential Administration, Aleksey Filatov, attended the meeting. Both oversee the direction of the occupied regions of Georgia.
On October 29, Bzhania visited the Moscow Automobile and Road Construction State Technical Institute, he graduated from in 1985. Bzhania also participated in the grand opening of the largest mushroom production complex in the Moscow Oblast.
On the first day of his visit, Bzhania visited the Abkhaz "embassy" to Russia, where he met with Abkhaz doctors working in Moscow. Issues of fighting the new coronavirus and organizing medical care in Abkhazia were discussed at the meeting.
Bzhania, as the president of the de facto republic of Abkhazia, visited Moscow for the fifth time.
Bzhania first visited Moscow on May 5. He was accompanied by the de facto ministers of finance and economy, Vladimir Delba and Christina Ozgan. For the second time he visited Moscow and participated in the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the victory in World War II, on June 24. The third visit took place on July 30. As a result of the visit the de facto administrative border between Abkhazia and Russia, which was closed due to the new coronavirus pandemic, was opened. Bzhania visited Moscow for the fourth time on September 7 and met with the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, Dimitry Kozak, and the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Mikhail Babich.
