On March 18, 2019, Tskhinvali Region hosted event in memory of “Eredvi Tragedy“. (According to Osetian party, on March 18, 1991, near village Eredvi, armed Georgians stopped the bus driving 25 ethnic Ossetian citizens from village Dmenisi to Tskhinvali. 12 men were tortured and buried alive). Tskhinvali Region de facto president Anatoly Bibilov and the “Ambassador“ of Russian Federation in Tskhinvali Region Marat Kulakhmetov attended the event.

On March 18, 2019, in Sukhumi, meeting between Russian Federation delegation and the de facto Minister of Health of Abkhazia Tamaz Tsakhnakia was held to review tree-phase Health Care Service Project for the citizens of the de facto Abkhazia Republic. Delegation members are Head of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency of the Russian Federation Vladimir Uiba and the Assistant to the Minister of Health of Russia Anatoly Gulin.

On March 15, 2019, in the de facto Republic of Abkhazia, working group of the Ministry of North Caucasus Affairs of the Russian Federation held another meeting to discuss implementation of investment programs supporting the socio-economic development of Abkhazia. Similar meeting was held on March 14 as well.

Spiritual board of Adygea Republic and Krasnodar Krai Muslim, guided by Mufti Askarbia Kardanov, paid official visit to Abkhazia. Together with the delegation, Mufti met with the de facto President of Abkhazia Raul Khajimba.

On March 14, 2019, Investment program implementation was discussed at the de facto government of Abkhazia on the meeting with the working group from the Ministry of North Caucausus Affairs, Russian Federation.

Russian News Agency  “Itar-Tass“ published extensive interview with the Minister of North Caucasus Affairs  Sergei Chebotarev, where the Minister spoke about Georgia as well as about Abkhazia and Tkhinvali Region. At this stage, Chebotarev is the most experienced and influential person in Russian Government towards Abkhazia and Tskhinvali Region. For years he’d been personally involved in the processes that took place in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali Region.

On March 14, 2019, for the support to the university and to the de facto Republic, “Abkhazian State University“ of  the de facto Republic awarded Honorary Doctorate to political and public figures of Russian Federation: Konstantin Zatulin, Sergey Baburin and Andranik Migranyan. Konstantin Zatulin is considered to be the distinguished and respectable figure among Russian politicians. For years he has been working on the issues regarding post-Soviet states, especially conflict regions.

On March 13, 2019, in Saint Petersburg, the Tskhinvali Region de facto “Ambassador“ in Russian Federation, Znaur Gasiev, together with acting Governor of Saint Petersburg Alexander Beglov discussed issues such as attracting investors in the Tskhinvali Region and region produced products realization in Saint Petersburg.

In Southern Military District  of Russian Federation – on the territory of Russia, Armenia, annexed Crimea and the occupied regions of Georgia, field trainings will be held with the participation of 10 thousand gunners and up to 3,000 units of equipment. Training will take place along 20 military polygons and will last for a month.  

4 new houses construction completed for the military families at Russian 7th military base territory in Abkhazia. 64 military families were solemnly handed refurbished apartments. In 2018, five houses were built in close vicinity of military base which accommodated 78 military families adjacent to the base.

In Moscow, on March 6, 2019 de facto President of Tskhinvali Region Anatoly Bibilov met with the president of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. According to the Kremlin, the parties discussed current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, primarily in the socio-economic direction.

De facto Minister of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia Daur Kove congratulated birthday to Alexey Dvinyanin “Ambassador“ of Russian Federation to Abkhazia. Alexey Dvinyanin was born on March 5, 1967 in the city of Voronezh, in RSFSR, USSR. On March 30, 2018, at the directive of the President of the Russian Federation, Dvinyanin was appointed to the position of the “Ambassador” of Russia to the de facto Republic of Abkhazia.

De-facto Healthcare Minister of Abkhazia Tamaz Tsakhnakia’s working visit in Moscow ended. During the visit several issues were discussed with Russian colleagues, namely: emergency medical centre construction in Abkhazia; mobile diagnostic automobiles purchase; dispensary for Abkhazian population.

In Moscow, on March 5, 2019, at the Ministry of North Caucausus Affairs of Russian Federation was                         discussed formation of Russian and de facto Republic of Abkhazian Joint Information-Coordination Centre. The working meeting was held by Deputy Minister Igor Koshin, who is the curator of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali Region at the Ministry.

For the first time Russian 4th military base personnel exercised using airmobile groups in Dzartsemi polygon, Tskhinvali Region. The exercise took place on the ground and in the air as well. More than 20 helicopters of aviation army, in order to take their positions, ensured tactical air raid provision in the mountainous regions.
