Deceased Russian Border Guard Commemorated In Sukhumi

In Sukhumi, at the Alley of Boarder Guards, was held mourning ceremony to commemorate deceased Lieutenant Colonel Vasily Kvitko, employee of Border Division of Federal Security Service, Russian Federation.

On April 8, 2011, in the village of Chuburkhinji, Gali district, Kvitko together with the Russian Border Guards Squad was conducting engineering surveillance of the territory and inspecting deserted houses, when strangers opened fire and killed him. In 2010 Kvitko was appointed on the position of the Commander of Division in Gali. After his death, de facto Government of Abkhazia and the President of the Russian Federation awarded Kvitko with orders and medals and established memorial plaque in Kislovodski school where Kvitko studied.

On January 12, 2016, in Sukhumi, memorial plaque was established with the name of the head of the Cynology Group of the Border Division, Andrei Vadzeltsov, who died at the Russian border post on January 12, 2015, during the joint operation of law enforcement agencies in the village of Refo-Etseri, Gali district.
