Alan Margiev Speaks about the Priorities for the Agricultural Sector

2021 / 03 / 05

Alan Margiev, the new de facto Minister of Agriculture of the Tskhinvali region, spoke about priorities for the agricultural sector.

Margiev stated that with the start of sowing, the introduction of new, fully computerized, technologies is one of the main priorities of the so-called Ministry, which will continue to exchange experience with the Russian counterparts to further promote the participation of Ossetian farmers in forums and exhibitions.

According to the de facto Minister, currently, demand of the Tskhinvali region for agricultural products is mainly met by imports from Russia; the so-called republic should be able to provide its population with locally produced food. Dependence on Russian imports is especially problematic in winter, when road connection with the Russian Federation is disrupted.
