Tskhinvali Football Club (Цхинвал) takes part in the North Ossetian football championship. Due to the pandemic, the Tskhinvali team did not participate in the championship last year. According to the coach of Tskhinvali FC, Soslan Kochiev, in the first game with one of the leaders of last year, Shield of Ossetia FC (Щит Осетии), the club won with a score of 2: 1.

The North Ossetian football championship has been held since 1990. Tskhinvali FC (previously Spartak FC) won a silver medal in 1993 and the 1994 championship. The club won bronze medals in 2008 and 2009 and won again in 2019.

It should be noted that in the same period, Barsalan football children's teams of the Tskhinvali region successfully participate in the Hopes Cup 2021 which is held in Sochi.
