2021 / 05 / 28

The Tskhinvali region received 40 tons of potato seeds under an agreement with the Russian Ministry of Agriculture. According to the de facto Minister of Agriculture, Alan Margiev, 90% of the potato seeds were donated to farmers in the Java region.

The Java region has the most fertile soil for growing potatoes, said the de facto Minister. Potatoes were planted on an area of one hectare in the highland village of Ertso of the Java region. As planned, the planting area will be increased seven times next year. This year, farmers expect to harvest 300 tons of potatoes.

Planting is carried out using a special machine, which has not worked for four years. The de facto Ministry of Agriculture also intends to purchase additional equipment with a loan from the “National Bank.”
