2021 / 06 / 03

A joint program of the Russian Federation and the de facto republic of Abkhazia will start on June 7. The program will determine the immune status of “citizens” of Abkhazia. Under the program, 3,000 antigen tests will be performed to identify how many people have developed antibodies in their blood against the Coronavirus. The program will cover all regions of Abkhazia.

In Abkhazia, the immunization process started on May 11. The Sputnik V Russian vaccine is used to vaccinate the population. The vaccination is voluntary and is done with written consent, although the de facto Prime Minister does not rule out that the vaccination may become mandatory.

As of June 3, a total of 25 new cases of coronavirus infection were reported in Abkhazia. The total number of confirmed cases reaches 15,408.
