The de facto President of the Tskhinvali region, Anatoly Bibilov, held a meeting with a delegation of the Federation Council of Russia. The Russian delegation was chaired by Sergei Tsekov, a member of the Council Committee on International Relations.
The meeting was also attended by Alan Tadtaev, the Chairman of the de facto Parliament of the Tskhinvali region, Marat Kulakhmetov, the Ambassador of Russia to the Tskhinvali region, Krim Kazankov, a member of the Defense and Security Committee, and Nadezhda Dakhova, a representative of the Commission on Cooperation between the Council and the de facto Parliament of the Tskhinvali region.
Bibilov noted that the work carried out by the “Inter-Parliamentary Commission” is effective and further deepening of the cooperation will affect the well-being of the Tskhinvali region population. According to Tsekov, the Tskhinvali region and Russia perceive each other's challenges as their own, and problems of the Tskhinvali region are being solved step by step. Tsekov focused on the role of exchanging experiences for the development of relations.
Bibilov awarded the Order of Friendship to Tsekov and the Medal in Commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War of the People of South Ossetia – to Krim Kazankov.
At the meeting of the joint Commission of the de facto Parliament of the Tskhinvali region and the Federation Council of Russia, the “parties” discussed the implementation of an “agreement on alliance and integration” between Russia and the Tskhinvali region. In addition, they discussed medical issues, as well as the recognition of the seniority of service of Russian citizens in the Tskhinvali region. As it was mentioned, the Tskhinvali region does not always consider work experience that Russian younger generation acquire in Russia.
Tsekov stressed that the “countries” have already signed a total of 108 bilateral agreements. So, the “legislation” of the Tskhinvali region is moving closer to Russia, which Tsekov described as “the right approach.” Tsekov promised to help in bringing the problems of the Tskhinvali region to the Russian Ministry of Health, as well as in solving the issue of formalizing the entry of vehicles for personal purposes into Russia. The next meeting between the parties is scheduled for the fall of 2021.
During the visit, the Russian delegation visited the so-called State University of South Ossetia.
