An Abkhaz wrestler, Sair Kacharava, will compete in the European Boxing Championship on behalf of a Russian team. As the de facto State Committee for Youth and Sports of Abkhazia reports on its Facebook page the championship will be held in Georgia on July 1-13.
The de facto Chairman of the Committee, Jemal Gubaz, wished Kacharava “a bright victory and a gold award” at the European Championship.
In April, the 15-year-old athlete won the Russian boxing championship among the 15-16 year-old boxers in the city of Anapa, the Krasnodar region. Kacharava was coached by Arnold Gubaz and Alia Agrba.
According to the Facebook page of the Georgian National Boxing Federation, Tbilisi will host the European Championship “for the first time in the history of Georgian boxing among young boxers.” The championship will take place on July 1-12.
