A multi-disciplinary mobile hospital was deployed at the 7th military base of the Russian Federation in Abkhazia on August 19. On the first day, the hospital received 15 patients infected with the coronavirus. The mobile hospital is equipped with modern equipment and can accommodate 100 patients. It can accommodate additional 50 people.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation sent the field hospital at the request of the de facto government of Abkhazia to increase the bed fund of the latter. A mobile convoy set off from Budyonnovsk (the Stavropol Krai) and covered an 800 km route. The hospital arrived in Sokhumi on August 18.

In addition to the hospital, Russia sent 30 RCB (radiation, chemical, biological) protection specialists to Abkhazia. The convoy included ten special equipment. Specialists started their work in Gudauta and Sokhumi on August 20. They will disinfect territory of 50 thousand square meters with special disinfectant solutions, including “administration” buildings, the Central Hospitals, the archive building of the Ministry of Defense, markets, etc.
