Delegations from Russia, the Republic of North Ossetia - Alanya, the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics visited Tskhinvali.
The delegation of the United Russia ruling party was headed by Andrey Turchak, the Secretary of the General Council of the party. He was accompanied by MPs of the State Duma Dmitry Sablin, Alexander Karelin and Andrei Krasov. The North Ossetian delegation was chaired by the President of the Republic, Sergey Menyaylo, the “Donetsk People's Republic” - by Denis Pushilin, and the “Luhansk People's Republic” – by an MP of the so-called People's Council, Denis Kolesnikov.
On Tuesday, the de facto President of the Tskhinvali region, Anatoly Babilov, hosted the delegation of the United Russia party which arrived in the region to attend the United Ossetia congress. The parties singed an agreement on intra-party cooperation at the meeting.
As Dmitry Turchak said this would be an additional impetus for the de facto republic to develop an investment program and overcome socio-economic problems.
Turchak took part in the VIII congress of the United Ossetia party, where the incumbent de facto president, Anatoly Babilov, was nominated to run in the presidential elections.
The so-called presidential elections in the Tskhinvali region are scheduled for April 10.
Turchak criticized opponents of the de facto government of the Tskhinvali region and recalled the year of 2008. According to him, Russia helped the “Republic” to repel the attack of the Georgian army.
