As part of his visit to Moscow, the de facto Minister of Foreign Affairs, Inal Ardzinba, met with the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov.

At the meeting, the parties signed an agreement on the settlement of the issue of dual citizenship which will simplify the acquisition of Russian citizenship for citizens of the de facto republic.

Ardzinba presented Lavrov with Abkhazian national clothes.

Their last face-to-face meeting took place in December 2021
