On May 30, the Minister of Economy of the de facto Republic of Abkhazia, Kristina Ozgan, updated the so-called President, Aslan Bzhania, on Russia's investment program.
The investment program was developed by Russia to promote the socio-economic development of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region. There is a 3-year plan for the program implementation.
According to Ozgan, a total of RUB 3.4 billion is allocated under the program to assist Abkhazia in 2023-25. It should be noted that initially, RUB 4.5 billion was to be allocated under the program, however, as per a Russian government decision, the financial support was reduced.
In 2024, the de facto government should spend RUB 1 billion, of which 25% (RUB 258 million) has already been absorbed.
This year, funds will be spent on the construction of the Republican Children's Hospital and street repair in Sokhumi.
As planned, road sections in the villages of Likhni and Khopi (Gudauta region) will be rehabilitated, which will cost RUB 29.3 million.
Intracity roads will be rehabilitated in the Ochamchire district. The project will consume RUB 50 million.
Rehabilitation of the roads connecting Tkvarcheli with two villages, as well as Freedom Avenue will be completed.
A total of RUB 398.35 million was allocated for the Gagra region where the reconstruction of the Alakhadzi electric substation is planned. In addition, the sewer cleaning will be carried out in Gagra and Bichvinta.
A total of RUB 52.82 million was allocated for the repair of the Psou-Sokhumi republican highway.
