The Federal Agency for the CIS Countries, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Affairs in occupied Abkhazia has opened a resource center at the Secondary School N 1 in Gali.
The center’s work will primarily focus on promoting the study of the Russian language and organizing cultural and educational events. Vladislav Kulikov, a representative of hte agency, attended the opening ceremony. Notabely, the first such resource center was established in Sokhumi. Priori the opening ceremony, students of the Secondaty School N 1 in Gali presented a theatrical performance.
The Gali district is predominantly inhabited by ethnic Georgians. For several years, education in the Georgian language has been prohibited in this occupied region.
