On September 9, 2019, at the State Duma of Russian Federation, working group was established to study the appeal from de facto parliament of Tskhinvali Region. The group will be chaired by Viktor Vodolatsky, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Commonwealth of Independent States, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots.
Members of all fractions will comprise the working group. In addition to Vodolatsky, group members will be: Valery Gazzaev („Fair Russia“ Party), Kazbek Taisaev (Communist Party of the Russian Federation), Pavel Shperov (Liberal Democratic Party of Russia), Artem Kavinov and Artem Turov (both from Party „United Russia“).
According to Vodolatsky, the working group will convene in the next 10 days and work out the plan. Russian MPs will request all the necessary materials from de facto parliament of Tskhinvali Region as well as visit Tskhinvali.
On August 1, 2019, de facto parliament of Tskhinvali Region sent an appeal to the State Duma and Federation Council of Russian Federation on recognition ““South Ossetian“ Genocide committed by Georgia in 1920“.
