The Collective Security Treaty Organisation is Concerned over the Strengthening of the West in the Caucasus

2019 / 02 / 06

According to Anatoly Sidorov, the Chief of Joined Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, strengthening US and NATO influence in the Caucasus creates preconditions for escalating tensions around Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali Region.

Sidorov stated that „Georgia, which demonstrates readiness for dialogue, is actually blocking the Geneva format negotiation process. Western countries continue to support Tbilisi in this regard, creating preconditions for escalating tensions. US and NATO activities to expand influence in the region are of concern. Washington strongly supports anti-Russian policy of the Georgian leadership and Tbilisi joining NATO“.
