On October 9, 2019, in Abkhazia, inauguration of Raul Khajimba, de facto President, was held. Apart of representatives of local de facto government, representatives of Russia also participated in the solemn ceremony.

Among the guests were Sergey Chebotarev, Minister of North Caucasus Affairs, Aleksey Filatov, Head of the Directorate for Cross Border Cooperation of Presidential Administration, Aleksey Dvinianin, „Ambassador“ of the Russian Federation to Abkhazia, Olga Timofeeva, Deputy  Chairman of the State Duma, Leonid Kalashnikov, the State Duma MP, Chairman of the Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots.

Timofeeva and Chebotarev delivered congratulatory speech at the ceremony. Chebotarev, along with Igor Koshin, his Deputy, directly met with Khajimba. Filatov read congratulatory letter to Khajimba from Vladislav Surkov, Assistant to President.
