On October 11, 2019, in Sokhumi, delegation of Federation Council Committee on Defence and Security, Russian Federation, met with de facto leaders of Abkhazia. The guests from Russia were met by Valeri Kvarchia, de facto Prime Minister and Raul Khajimba, de facto President.

Members of the Russian Delegation were the Committee first Deputy Chairman - Aleksandr Rakitin and Deputy Chairman - Bair Zhamsuev. Russian MPs also visited the 7th military base of Russia in Abkhazia and border points.
