Motorised infantry and tank units of the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation began large-scale tactical military trainings. Apart of the territory of Russia trainings will occur in Armenia, occupied regions of Georgia (Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali Region), the annexed Crimea.

The exercises will be held at 15 military polygons in the Southern Military District. More than 7000 servicemen participate in the training, with 2000 units of military equipment involved. UAVs will also be used during the training. The purpose of the exercises is to accomplish tasks of defence and attack during day and night-time.
