According to Ibragim Gaseev, the Tskhinvali Region de facto Defence minister, in September 2020, the region servicemen will take part in strategic command-staff exercises – „Kavkaz-2020“.

The exercises organizer is the Russian Federation Defence Ministry. Servicemen from 17 countries will participate in the exercises. The rifle battalion, set up in Summer 2019, will take part in the exercise. As Gaseev stated, in a similar event the Tskhinvali Region participates for the first time.
