On March 11, 2020, by the order of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Sergey Chebotarev was appointed Head of the Secretariat of the Deputy Chairman, Security Council.
Chebotarev has held the post of Deputy Minister since February 2020, once the Ministry of North Caucasus Affairs was abolished on January 21 and joined the Ministry of Economic Development. Chebotarev was the Minister of North Caucasus Affairs and curator of the Russian government to Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali Region.
The post of Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation was established on January 16, 2020. Dmitry Medvedev was appointed to the post on the same day.
