On September 3, Russia's "ambassador" to Abkhazia, Aleksey Dvinianin, met with the de facto president of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania. The issues of bilateral relations were discussed at the meeting.

Last meeting between Dvinianin and Bzhania was held on June 17, 2020, when the de facto leader of Abkhazia met with Russian officials working in Abkhazia.
