The Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation completed the audit of the activities of the Ministry of North Caucasus Affairs.
The Ministry, which supervised the socio-economic direction in the occupied regions of Georgia, was abolished on January 21, 2020. Its functions were taken over by the Ministry of Economic Development.
According to the auditor Svetlana Orlova, the inspection revealed that for the moment of abolishment the debt of the Ministry totaled RUB 3 billion. The Tskhinvali region and Abkhazia account for 80% of the debt. The debt will be written off if reports of the work performed are submitted.
