On December 4, a museum of Ethnography and Local Lore was opened at the A. Tibilov State University of the Tskhinvali region.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the de facto authorities of the Tskhinvali region, including the "President" Anatoly Bibilov, Marat Kulakhmetov (the Russian "ambassador" to the Tskhinvali region) and others.
The Rector of the university, Vadim Tedeev, said that exhibits were collected for a year, and the museum opened in just a week. It houses archeological, historical, ethnographic exhibits, including costumes, antique tools and other items which individuals have donated to the museum.
Marat Kulakhmetov said that the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation would hand over to the museum weapons and uniforms of the time of the Great Patriotic War. Anatoly Bibilov presented a 1917 pistol to the Rector and noted that "the patriotic upbringing of young people will never lose its relevance."
