On January 29, the de facto President of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, spoke (check the link) about the importance of military cooperation with the Russian Federation. He said that Abkhazia should strengthen military-technical cooperation with the Russian Federation, as “only Russia can ensure peace.”
Bzhania said that he would review signed documents on military cooperation that have not yet been ratified. In addition, there is a need to improve the level of combat readiness and technical equipment of the de facto Armed Forces of Abkhazia.
We would like to remind you that in 2019, Russia and Abkhazia signed an agreement that stipulates the reimbursement of financial expenses necessary for the modernization of the Armed Forces of the de facto republic by Russia. The process of modernization includes equipping the de facto army of Abkhazia with modern weapons, as well as the unification of standards for command and control of the Armed Forces and material and technical support.
