The establishment of a Public Advisory Council to deal with the issues of Russian compatriots is planned at the de facto “embassy” of the Russian Federation in Abkhazia.

The initiative was first voiced in late 2020. It has already been supported by the Russian “ambassador,” Aleksey Dvinianin, and the Deputy Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo office, Alexey Polkovnikov. Both expressed their support in official letters.

Authors of the initiative believe that the Council will unite the Russian community in Abkhazia, create equal conditions for each of them and promote close Russian-Abkhazian cooperation at all levels.
