On December 25, 2018, the 17th session of the Inter-governmental Committee on socio-economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and de facto Republic of Abkhazia was held in Moscow. 

On December 18, 2018, Vadim Chekha, Head of the Federal Agency for CIS Countries, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Affairs representation in Abkhazia, held a press conference.

According to the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin, Georgia's hostile rhetoric over the situation in Abkhazia and South Ossetia has not changed after the election of the president. Karasin made this statement after summing up the results of the Geneva Discussions next round.

On December 13, 2018, the State Duma of the Russian Federation ratified agreement between Russia and de facto government of Abkhazia on the „mutual recognition of education and (or) qualification“.

On December 11, 2018, de facto President of the Tskhinvali Region Anatoly Bibilov summarized implementation results for investment program 2018 promoting socio-economic development of the  Tskhinvali Region.
