Within the framework of the Russian Retail Week, the VII International Forum of Business and Government, which runs from May 31 to June 4 in Moscow, the Russian Association of Retail Market Experts and the de facto Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Abkhazia signed a cooperation agreement.

This year, a total of 57 batches of strawberries were exported from Abkhazia to Russia, weighing a 187.5 tons.

According to Vladimir Nekrasov, the Trade “Representative” of Russia in Abkhazia, despite the pandemic, the volume of trade between Russia and Abkhazia amounted to RUB 19 billion 700 million in 2020, which is RUB 1.5 billion more than in 2019. As Nekrasov said, an increase in exports of Abkhazian products to Russia, including citrus, contribute to this growth.

At a meeting of the so-called State Customs Committee, the Chairman of the Committee, Otar Khetsia, noted that the trade turnover of Abkhazia totaled RUB 26 billion 555 million in 2020, which is 2.2% more than last year. According to Khetsia, in 2020, imports decreased by 1.7% to RUB 19 billion 714 million, while exports increased by 15.3% to RUB 6 billion 841 million.
