Department for the Development of Integration Projects and CIS States

On January 21, 2020, by the order of the Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Ministry of North Caucasus was abolished. The Ministry was responsible for the implementation and monitoring of investment programs promoting socio-economic development of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali Region. As a result of the changes, the Ministry functions were transferred to the Ministry of Economic Development. The Department for Development of Integration Projects and CIS States oversees the direction of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali Region in the Ministry.

The Department Head is Ilia Fedorov.

The Department is a structural unit of the Central Office of the Ministry of Economic Development. The Department develops a state policy of the Russian Federation in the field of foreign economic relations with the CIS States and Georgia, as well as with Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region.

The Department, within its competence, in a bilateral and multilateral format, participates in the implementation of integration projects with the CIS States in the field of trade-economic and humanitarian cooperation. The Department monitors and analyzes economic and trade policies in the CIS States and Georgia, as well as Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali Region; further, prepares relevant proposals on the policies impact on Russia's socio-economic development.

The Department ensures the Russian Secretariat work of Intergovernmental Committees on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation between the CIS States and Russia. The Department, along with the Ministry other divisions, also ensures to hold international forums, conferences, seminars and other events on border and regional cooperation with CIS States.
