On December 30, 2018, Vyacheslav Bitarov, Head of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania visited the Tskhinvali Region and held meeting with Anatoly Bibilov, de facto President of the Region.

Issue related to the „unification of two parts of Ossetia“ was also discussed at the meeting. At the end, Bibilov and Bitarov recorded joint New Year video addressed to the „People of North and South Ossetia“.
