The fight against the coronavirus continues in Abkhazia. On September 8, the de facto republic received special equipment for vaccination points from the International Committee of the Red Cross. In particular, the “Ministry” of Health received 12 units of refrigerators to keep the coronavirus vaccine.

The vaccination with the Sputnik Light vaccine resumed in the de facto republic on August 10. Russia delivered a batch of 5000 doses of the Sputnik Light vaccine to Abkhazia in early August. At this stage, a total of 8,777 people have been vaccinated in the de facto republic, 6,500 of them received the Sputnik V vaccine.

The field hospital sent by Russia has already provided assistance to more than 400 people, 127 out of which underwent inpatient treatment. The hospital performed over a thousand PCR tests.

RCB (radiation, chemical, biological) protection specialists are also actively involved in the fight against COVID-19. They treated over 60 premises of social infrastructure with a special disinfectant solution. Currently, they are working in Tkvarcheli.

As of September 7, there are 25,716 confirmed cases of the coronavirus infection in Abkhazia, with 21,760 recovered people and 388 – dead.
