On February 15, the Tskhinvali region commemorated the day of Internationalist Soldiers. As part of the solemn event, the memorial to Soldiers was decorated with flowers.

The event was attended by war veterans, de facto authorities of the region, military personnel of the 4th military base of Russia, students, schoolchildren, as well as by the Russian “Ambassador,” Marat Kulakhmetov, the Commander of the 4th military base of the Russian Federation in the Tskhinvali region, Roman Viazovsky, and the “President” Anatoly Bibilov.

This date is dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan in 1989. According to a local source, 200 young people were dispatched from the so-called South Ossetia to Afghanistan, and 7 of them never returned.
