A delegation of the Russian Federation visited Tskhinvali before the illegitimate presidential elections scheduled for April 10. The delegation comprises: the Head of North Ossetia, Sergey Menyaylo, the Head of the Kabardino-Balkaria Republic, Kazbek Kokov, a senator of the Russian Federation, Sergey Karelin, as well as representatives of the Russian State Duma and the Council of the Russian Federation.

As part of the visit, a solemn meeting will be held of an initiative group for holding a referendum on joining Russia. The event will be attended by former and incumbent “presidents” of the de facto republic and other members of the initiative group, which includes 26 public and political figures.

The first meeting of the referendum initiative group will be held in the hall of the Drama Theater in the center of Tskhinvali, at 16:00. The meeting will be broadcast live.

The day before, during the debate, the de facto President of the Tskhinvali region, Anatoly Bibilov, said that the first meeting of the initiative group to convene the referendum on joining South Ossetia to Russia would be held on Friday.
