Information and publishing department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation evaluated illegitimate parliamentary elections held on June 9 in Tskhinvali Region.

According to the Ministry, “the regular parliamentary elections held in “South Ossetia“, on June 9, was distinguished with voters high turnout and was carried out in full compliance with the requirements of electoral legislation. Election observers, Russian and international, stated that the process of expressing peoples’ will was consistent with the universally recognized principles and standards of organizing/conducting elections. Russian Federation welcomes successful conduct of parliamentary elections, considers this as the proof of formation of the statehood of South Ossetia and the further strengthening of its democratic institutions. "
