In 2023, Influx of Funds into Occupied Abkhazia Amounted to RUB 143 Billion

In 2023, the “cross-border” turnover of funds carried out through banking system of Abkhazia amounted to RUB 143 billion, which is RUB 19.3 billion (15.6%) more than the same indicator in 2022.

In total, the inflow of funds into Abkhazia through the banking system amounted to RUB 70.2 billion, and outflow from the de facto republic to other countries, mainly to Russia, totaled RUB 72.8 billion. Accordingly, the cash flow balance had a negative value of RUB 2.6 billion.

In 2023, transactions in the amount of RUB 40.7 billion were made into the accounts of legal entities and individuals registered in credit institutions of Abkhazia. A total of RUB 20.6 billion of banking operations were carried out into the accounts of Russian bank card holders operating within the framework of the APRA payment system of the de facto republic.

In addition, within the framework of the investment program supporting the de facto republic and other measures by the Russian government, a total of RUB 5.2 billion were deposited into the “budget.” The amount of Russian pension issued to part of the local population totaled RUB 3.4 billion, and remittances - RUB 0.3 billion.

In 2023, the main payment currency was the Russian ruble, which accounted for 96.2% of the total volume of “cross-border” transactions, the US dollar - 3.2%, Turkish lira, euro, Chinese yuan and Indian rupee - 0.6 %.

It should be noted that the mentioned data was published by the so-called National Bank of the de facto republic and therefore, it is impossible to verify the credibility.
