Koshin Held Working Meeting in Abkhazia

On January 22, 2020, issues of socio-economic cooperation were discussed at de facto Ministry of Economy of Abkhazia with the delegation of the Ministry of North Caucasus Affairs of the Russian Federation. The delegation head was Igor Koshin, Deputy Minister. Russian delegation comprised of Anton Melnik – Director of the International Cooperation Department and Vera Denk – Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department, Head of the Division for Interaction with the „Republic of Abkhazia“.

Several important issues were reviewed at the working meeting, including allocating financial assistance to Abkhazia for 2020 under the investment program 2020-2022 promoting socio-economic development, supply of electricity to ensure energy security, allocate additional financial resources for the recovery of the „Bank of Abkhazia“, and ensure Russian funding reasonable consumption. According to Adgur Ardzinba, de facto Minister of Economy of Abkhazia, the necessity of electricity supply is caused by reducing the water level in the Jvari reservoir, which ensures the operation of Enguri Dam.

For the note, on January 21, 2020, by order of the Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Ministry of North Caucasus Affairs was abolished and joined the Ministry of Economic Development.
