Tactical exercises carried out at Tsebelda and Nagvalou military polygons in Abkhazia under instruction of the Commander of the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation Aleksandr Dvornikov. In the exercises participated aviation and fleet as well.

The servicemen destroyed land and air targets. At the initial stage of the exercise alarm was triggered and military units, with the use of equipment, were to start 200 km length march on pre-defined route. Motorized infantry in cooperation with the intelligence units, artillerymen and anti-aircraft gunners worked out the issues of defensive and offensive operations. More than 1500 servicemen, up to 400 units of military equipment, including modern tanks (Т-72Б3), were involved in tactical exercises.
