The de facto president of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, signed a decree on the approval of the so-called  Foreign Policy Concept of Abkhazia. The development and strengthening of the strategic partnership with Russia is one of the main priorities of the concept which implies the following:

• Close cooperation with Russia to enhance peace, stability and security in the Caucasus region;
• Protect the border with Georgia together with Russia;
• Military cooperation with Russia to increase security and create a common space for defense and security;
• Enhance the trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural-humanitarian cooperation with Russia;
• Establish contacts with the North Caucasus republics and the southern regions of Russia.

The concept was adopted on December 4.
