Sergey Komissarov

Head of the Representation Office of the Federal Agency for CIS, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Affairs in the Tskhinvali Region

General Biographical Information

• Komissarov is the First Secretary at the Russian “Embassy” and the Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representation office in the Tskhinvali region.

Career in Rossotrudnichestvo

• In August 2023, Komissarov was appointed as the Head of the representation office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Tskhinvali region. In this post he replaced Sergey Skvortsov who completed his five-year tenure in the Tskhinvali region in July 2023.
• On August 22, 2023, the Russian “Ambassador” to the Tskhinvali region, Marat Kulakhmetov, introduced Komissarov to the de facto president, Alan Gagloyev. The meeting talked about the development of bilateral cooperation.
• On November 14, 2023, Komissarov met with the Chairman of the Rossy society, one of the Russian compatriots’ organizations, Svetlana Kotaeva. Kotaeva is a prominent public figure in the de facto republic. She participated in the II Assembly of the World Federation of Russian-Speaking Women and shared her impressions with Komissarov. Kotaeva came up with an initiative to implement similar projects in the region for Russian compatriots, which are already being implemented in different countries of the world. Komissarov welcomed Kotaeva's initiative and noted the importance of education so that “the new generation does not forget the history of the Russian and Ossetian people.” 

• On November 16, 2023, Komissarov met with schoolchildren in the “Republican Children's Library.” The meeting was held with students who were participants in several streams of the international youth project People of Artek, funded by the Russian government.

• On December 5, 2023, Komissarov met with Svetlana Kotaeva, the Head of the Rossy society of Russian compatriots. During the meeting with Komissarov, Kotaeva noted that there is no impediment to the promotion of the Russian language in the region. 

• On December 20, 2023, Komissarov presented textbooks to the Erudite school and the Orthodox gymnasium - Rukh. In addition, Komissarov met with principles of the schools and discussed the educational process.

• On April 19, 2024, in Akhalgori, Komissarov visited kindergarten staff and children as well as visited the Akhalgori Russian school.
