In an interview with Sputnik, Russia's Trade Representative in the de facto Republic of Abkhazia, Zalina Kobesova, spoke about the economic processes taking place in the occupied Abkhazia and the progress of economic cooperation with Russia.

In an interview with Sputnik, the Russian Trade Representative in Abkhazia, Zalina Kobesova, spoke about the economic processes in the occupied Abkhazia and the functioning of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The Prime Minister of the de facto Republic of Abkhazia, Alexander Ankvab, held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Economy of Russia, Dmitry Volvach, who supervises the occupied regions in the ministry.

The Russian Trade Representative in the de facto republic of Abkhazia, Zalina Kobesova, met with the rector of the “Abkhazia State University,” Aleko Gvaramia. The meeting discussed the prospects of cooperation between the university and the Russian Trade Representation.

A round table entitled “Economic cooperation. Compatriots and regions of Russia” was held in Sokhumi. The meeting took place at the Moscow House and was attended by the Representative of the Russian Trade Mission in Abkhazia, Zalina Kobesova, the Head of the Federal Agency for CIS States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Affairs (Russian House) and employees of the Russian “Embassy” in the de facto Republic of Abkhazia.

The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the de facto Republic of Abkhazia, Tamila Mirtskhulava, met with the Russian Trade Representative in Abkhazia, Zalina Kobesova. The parties discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation and further support to the industry.

The First Vice-Prime Minister of the de facto republic of Abkhazia and Minister of Agriculture, Beslan Jopua, met with the Head of the Russian Trade Mission in the de facto republic of Abkhazia, Zalina Kobesova. The parties discussed the current socio-economic processes between the “countries” and the turnover of agricultural products.

According to Zalina Kobesova, the Head of the Russian Trade Mission in the de facto republic of Abkhazia, the turnover of goods between Russia and the occupied Abkhazia during the nine months of 2022 in terms of imports amounted to RUB 24 billion (approx. USD 400 million), and in terms of exports – RUB 4 billion (approx. USD 66 million).

The “Ambassador” of the Russian Federation in the de facto Republic of Abkhazia, Mikhail Shurgalin, introduced a new Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Abkhazia, Zalina Kobesova, to the de facto Prime Minister, Alexander Ankvab.

The de facto President of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, held a meeting with the Russian Trade Representative in Abkhazia, Zalina Kobesova. Jansug Nanba, a representative of the so-called Presidential Administration, participated in the meeting which discussed the issues of bilateral economic relations. Aslan Bzhania expressed hope that this cooperation will strengthen bilateral economic relations.
