On February 20, the head of the Abkhazian Orthodox Church, the priest Vissarion Aplia, temporarily suspended church services due to the undetermined status of the Abkhazian Orthodox Church. On February 27, temples resumed service.

Khajimba appealed to the Russian Patriarch

On June 4, 2019, Raul Khajimba, de facto President of Abkhazia, appealed to the Russian Patriarch Kirill with the request to remove interdiction on liturgy to Doropheus Dbar. In 2011, Archbishop of Maykop and Adygea suspended from divine services Dorofei Dbar and Andre Ampar, who were serving at the New Atoni Monastery.

Abkhazian Muslims Hosted Adygea and Kransodar Krai Muslim Community

Spiritual board of Adygea Republic and Krasnodar Krai Muslims, guided by the board Deputy Mufti Ibragim Shkhalakhov, visited Abkhazia with charity purposes. At Gudauta and Sukhumi mosques the guests had fast dinner – iftar. The charity event was held by the donation from Adygea and Krasnodar Krai Muslims. The mentioned event is the result of the agreement signed on April 29, 2019 between the Muftis of Abkhazia and Adygea and Krasnodar Krai.

Abkhazia and Adygea Muftis Agreed on Cooperation

On May 2, 2019, Timur Dziba, Mufti of the Spiritual board of Abkhazian Muslims and Askarbia Kardanov, Mufti of the Spiritual board of Adygea Republic and Krasnodar Krai Muslims signed an agreement on cooperation at the mosque of Maykop city. This is the first signed agreement on cooperation between the Muftis of Abkhazia and Adygea.
