Round table – “do the Russians want war“ was held in Sukhumi. The event was held under the initiative of veteran peacekeepers, de facto leaders of Abkhazia and the institutions of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Raul Khajimba, de facto President of Abkhazia, Valery Bganba, de facto Prime Minister, Valery Kvarchia, de facto Parliament Speaker, and Kosnatnin Zatulin, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots of the State Duma, participated in discussions.

Aza Plieva, representative of de facto Ministry of Education of Tskhinvali Region, spoke about the process of applicants’ enrolment to Russian educational institutions. As she stated, in Tskhinvali Region, from 2003 enrolees selection to Russian educational institutions was performed by the facto Ministry of Education based on quotas, from 2013 –organizational issues fell under the competency of CIS, Compatriots living abroad and International Humanitarian Affairs of the Federal Agency (Россотрудничества).

The Russian State Duma ratified an additional protocol to the agreement of alliance and integration between Russia and Tskhinvali Region. According to the document, restrictions on terms of stay for the citizens of both sides on the territory of Russia and Tskhinvali have been cancelled. 

At the 7th military base of Russian Federation in Abkhazia, as a part of the workshop on modern armed conflicts experience, new principles of organising combat training were introduced to the commanders of military units.

Apart of military exercises, servicemen of the 7th military base of Russian Federation in Abkhazia are engaged in sportive life as well. Since the beginning of the year, more than 3000 servicemen have participated in up to 20 major sporting events.

According to Valery Bganba, de facto Prime-Minister of Abkhazia, Russia will allocate 4.5 billion RUB for socio-economic development of Abkhazia. Abkhazia will receive financial assistance in line with the new program for socio-economic development of Abkhazia in 2020-2022.

On June 21, 2019, at the monument of peacekeepers in Sukhumi, the 25th anniversary of the launch of peacekeeping mission in Sukhumi was marked. Peacekeeping mission of the Commonwealth of Independent States, represented by Russian Armed Forces, has been operating in Abkhazia since June 21, 1994.

"Moscow House" cultural-business center of Moscow operating in Abkhazia presented mobile laboratory complex and computer equipment to the 14thPublic School, named after Chekhov. 

On June 20, 2019, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia hosted further consultations on foreign policy coordination following to the Memorandum signed between the Foreign Ministries of Abkhazia and Russia on March 11, 2015.

More than 1500 servicemen from armoured vehicles divisions and in the composition of crew of Russian 7th military base in Abkhazia carried out combat shootings.

Public Chambers of de facto Republic of Abkhazia and Republic of Chechnya agreed on cooperation. Parties plan to intensify cooperation at the level of civil society. The ceremony of signing the agreement was held at the Public Chamber of the Republic of Chechnya. Ismail Denilkhanov, Chairman of the Chamber, and Natela Akaba, his colleague from Abkhazian side, signed the agreement. 

According to Dmitry Peskov, Presidential Press Secretary of Russian Federation, at the “Normandy Format“ Discussions, at the level of assistants to the heads of states, Russia will be presented either by Iuri Ushakov or Vladislav Surkov. The meeting is planned on July 12.

Tank crews and operators of anti-tank missile complexes of Russian military base in Abkhazia are intensively exercising on modern computer training simulators. 

Up to 300 junior specialists arrived at Russian military base in Abkhazia for military service. The specialists underwent three months training at the training centers of the Ministry of Defense of Russia.

Division of engineer sappers of the 7th military base of Russian Federation with the help of sniffer dogs, for the first time, cleared territory from explosives. Servicemen used modern means of defence and equipment, including non-contact device for explosives detection – “Korshun“.
