101th anniversary of Russian 7th Military Base formation was celebrated in Abkhazia. At the beginning of the event the unit battle flag was brought out, which was followed by successful servicemen awarding ceremony. Servicemen from reconnaissance units demonstrated simulated destruction of enemy subversive group.

Regular inspection to check combat readiness of communication specialists was conducted at Southern Military District of Russian Federation in Abkhazia. Servicemen tested operability of communications modern equipment and complexes (including „Р-419Л1“ communications vehicle and “Artek“ radio station) in difficult geographical conditions.

Deputy Minister of the Northern Caucasus Affairs of Russian Federation, Igor Koshin, paid working visit to Abkhazia. He observed constructions ongoing under the Investment Program promoting Socio-Economic Development of Abkhazia for 2017-2019.

President of Russian Federation, Vladimer Putin signed federal law which ratifies additional protocol to the agreement on Alliance and Integration between Russia and Tskhinvali Region. According to the document, restriction on duration of stay either on the territory of Russia or Tskhinvali Region for the citizens of both sides has been cancelled.

The 58th general military army motorized infantry advance units of Russian Southern Military District landed in the mountains of Tskhinvali Region, adjacent territories to Mamisoni Pass and Roki Tunnel.

Russian energy company “Rosneft“ completed construction of the first filling station in Tskhinvali Region. Construction of the second station will be completed in 2-3 months. At this stage only two filling stations construction is planned in Tskhinvali. One station is located at the north exit of Tskhinvali, on the opposite side of meat factory “Rastdon“, and another – in the district of “Neftebaz“.

During the regular tactical-special field exercises up to 100 servicemen of Russian military base in Abkhazia carried out combat shootings from different types of sniper rifles (SVD, SV-98 and VSS „Vintorez“). 

Divisions of operative-tactical missile complex "Iskander" of Russian Southern Military District missile units carried out electronic launches. Command posts, military equipment columns of conditional enemy and manpower were identified and destroyed in the mountains. Reconnaissance units of Russian military base dislocated in Tskhinvali Region ensured exact coordinates transfer using unmanned aerial vehicles.

On July 14, 2019, day of “Peacekeeper“ was celebrated in Tskhinvali Region. On July 14, 1992, joint peacekeeping forces launched mission implementation in Tskhinvali Region, which was completed after August 2008 War. Within the ceremony families of deceased peacekeepers’ were visited. One of the main streets in Tskhinvali was named after their name, where commemorative stela is erected.

Group of sappers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russian Federation, specialists of  „Leader“- the center for conducting especially risky rescue operations, completed clearing of explosive devices in Tskhinvali Region. This was the sappers’ 4th, final visit to Tskhinvali Region. Clearing activities started in April.

At Tsebelda and Nagvalou polygons of Russian Federation military base in Abkhazia, platoon commander’s assembly completed. Up to 20 practical, instruction-methodical and control masterclasses have been conducted for the commanders. During three-day assembly servicemen passed combat training courses.

Specialists of army communications of the Southern Military District of Russian Federation conducted large-scale exercise, processing sustainable and continuous communication between the district management points. Exercises covered Russian military bases dislocated in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali Region.

Following to the agreement on cooperation in the field of education, higher education institutions of Russian Federation annually receive Abkhazian students. Students selected by the representation of Federal Agency for CIS States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Affairs. According to Vadim Check, Head of the representation, 450 quotas were allocated for Abkhazian students in 2016, which was reduced in subsequent years and by 2019 comprised - 50.

Compared to the beginning of the year, at the 7th military base of Russian Federation in Abkhazia, unmanned aerial vehicles practical utilization indicator has been increased by 10%. Compared to the same period of previous year, total number of flight hours has been increased and comprised more than 400 hours, covering more than 25000 km distance.

Military police of the 7th military base of Russian Federation in Abkhazia received multilevel modern armored vehicles. Vehicles with capability to carry more than 3 tone of load have high level protection from firearms, withstand explosion equivalent up to 6.4 kg TNT power.
